Bill Marcroft, longtime voice of Utah athletics, dies

Bill Marcroft, who served as the “Voice of the Utes” for almost four decades, died Sunday morning, the University of Utah confirmed via its verified @Utah_Football Twitter handle Sunday morning.

Marcroft spent 35 years calling Utes football and basketball games for KALL-AM radio and KUTV-TV. When he retired following the 2004 football season, which culminated with Utah defeating Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl to finish 13-0, Marcroft had called 440 Utah football games and 1,088 basketball games, including the 1998 Final Four and national championship games.
